Left-Arm Twisting

On the basis of its win in Bengal, the Left claims it will be ’stronger’ and have more say in the matters of Central interest. Everyone seems to have taken this with muted acknowledgement, as if it is a but-natural thing to happen.

I fail to understand the logic. How does a win in one (or two) states change equation at the Centre? How can a regional win mean that the party has achieved right to be a bully for the entire nation?

Can any one explain? I am completely lost!

With my limited interest and knowledge of politics, the only thing i can think of is that it is simply a case of accumulating more clout……

These are matters of politics sirji, you and I are mere spectators but maybe just maybe the silence of the centre on their claims is more to patronise them than to accept. I remember during the first Chidambaram budged they raised a hue and cry abt FII entering insurance and various other issues but dear chidu just went on with his plans.
so Left may win in Bengal and a couple of other states here and there but by and large just end up ignored.

    Hmmm.
Many many things happen behind the scenes too…as far as I can think - states and centre have to interact on various issues - its not like that states are totally dependent to do whatever they like - or even the Centre. Yes, some functions are clearly marked out - but there is a lot of interdependence too - be it allocation of funds or anything else - so, same party at state & national level will definetly have more clout and say at the centre as compared to different ones.
    Ideally it shouldn’t but …
I might be wrong ..just my perceptions
