On The Road

Just a few more places that I have now travelled to. Nothing exceptional here, but jotting it down for records sake.

Kagarole - a small ‘kasba‘ some 20 kilometers from Agra. The drive is quite bad, but compared to the horrifying Agra-Aligarh road, it’s still better

Jagner - Near the U.P.-Rajasthan border, it’s yet another ‘kasba‘. The road from Kagarole is bad in patches, but overall pretty neat one. The landscape, as you reach Jagner, changes to incorporate a Rajasthani tinge. A few solitary hills, part of the Aravallis, are visible.

Kirawali - A tehsil on the Bharatpur-Agra road; advisable to travel by this awesome highway. Unfortunately, we went from Kagarole to Kirawali and the drive is extremely bumpy. My car is yet to recover from this ordeal!

ok Kaush, you need a visit to India to refresh your vocabulary. Aavu na chale, kasba and tehsil are common names yaar.
sirji, what kind of work is taking you to all these places??? you sure have an eventful life. first seeing the interior of Nepal and now that of UP. but then in all these places are you making notes for your real calling? With all this experience you shd be able to generate a first class script na. gaav ki chhori sheher ka chhora, bairi zamana aur pyar ki jeet?

  10. anks Says:

kasbas and tehsils??? what are you into these days - rural marketing or documentary filming?

  11. Mehak Says:

the great traveller is visiting kasbas n tehsils…

Agreeing with Priyangini’s comment….we need a story now.

  12. Manish Says:

Tehsil is Urdu for Taluka. Kasba is Urdu for a town!

  13. Manish Says:

Kirawali I think is pronounced Kurawali! Though I am not sure!

  14. Dhoop Says:

Hey, Kagarole pad ke ghar ka woh gulzar wala gana yaad aa gaya. Botal se ek baat chali hai Kag(cork) uda ke raat chali hai…. hai na!

  15. kaush Says:

aaaaahhhh..thanks GAURAV, DJ, PRIYANGINI AND MANISH for throwing some light on these words!….I think I really need to get back to India to refresh my vocab and take a course in Hindi!! you know now that I think about it…if i had to talk about teeth and any oral conditions a person might have in Hindi……I ..errr..I wouldnt know waht to say without using english words in between…..sigh!

Priyangini - LOL, ab kya kahun… i always get these kinda jobs… on the story, ok i give in … but it will be a very short story (no not 55er but at least two-three pages) … the story and climax are all there in my mind, i typed out some two pages already, a small bit is left so that will be done as soon as i find a cyber cafe that doesnt have Himesh whining in my ears! And yeah get ready for the editing job coz i aint gonna get time to reread it even :D

Anks - Neither! I m in a very routine job!

Mehak - Well, replied on that to Pri… :)

Manish - Cant say with confidence myself on the pronunciation. But next time i m there, i will carefully read the hindi text to ensure it :)

    Dhoop - Bilkul!

Kaush - He he he , i wonder what u will do if u hv to go talking about ‘jaws’ as ‘jabda’ LOL … and with that accent of urs! But it will be easy for u , the patient will be laughing out so loud, u can do whatever u wanna do to his teeth :P * Ok, me ducking now permanently *

  17. Manish Says:

Actually, I know someone from that place, and keeps on pronouncing it Kurawali!

  18. Deepak Jeswal Says:

Manish - There is a Kurawali in Mainpuri distt. Prob ur friend refers to that one… will be visiting there also sometime …
