The Editor Writes

Priyangini Mehta’s name is not unfamiliar to the readers of this blog. We have some common readers. Plus, she has edited all my recent stories. Her work on my stories has been so brilliant that today I feel extremely uncomfortable in putting up a new one without getting her final approval. She has also been the sole guest writer on this space - she wrote the review of Omkara (at the time when she was off blogs).

For those who have read her posts would know that she has an innate story telling capacity. Her four-part Suitor Sagas is a masterpiece in narration. So it was just a matter of time (and some push) that she would pen a story. I recall several comments on her previous blog where many readers had urged her to write fiction.

Finally now, that wait is over!

Yes, Priyangini has just completed her first short story The Spirit of Mumbai. And it will hit her blog on Monday evening. Being a true-blue Mumbaikar it was evident that her first work would revolve around the city. In The Spirit of Mumbai, she presents a slice of life of a working married girl against the back-drop of the blasts that rocked the city last year.

I promise it’s going to be a delicious treat to all readers!

The best part - the treat doesn’t end here. TSOM is part of a trilogy based on Mumbai life, and we will get to read two more from this series in the coming months.

In reality TSOM is not exactly her debut as a fiction writer. Some months back she had written a bulk of a rib-tickling romantic tale but somehow couldn’t complete it. I was lucky enough to read that story as well. I hope the response to TSOM encourages her to finish that one too!

Her blog is titled Life As It Goes. And with this story, I am sure it will be ‘life as it rocks!’

As a warm up to her story, I would suggest readers to read her brilliantly recounted Suitor Sagas (on her older space) and the recently concluded two part series Pensieve Peek Part One here and Part Two here.

On Monday 12th March 2007 at 5:00 p.m.(IST) be sure to click here to catch the wonderful story!

We all know she is very good writer and we always loved to read her write ups no matter whether it was her suitor saga or her even a small scene from the road or to the party details or about her friend Nishant’s marries etc. and how can I forget to mentioned the Love letter from the Bhai :D and many more. It was really nice to read her post. She writes pretty well. But she used to say she can’t write stories but I knew that one fine day she will come up stories with a bang and she is here now. And it’s not a surprise for me at least.
