Why I Blog?
Anja Merret gifted me the tag about why I blog. Several times over the past months I thought of re-penning the ideas that have hazily suspended like a vapor but never crystallized into any cohesive post. Of course, I have time and again, especially on blog anniversaries, hinted why I continue to do so, and what exactly is the driving force behind Random Expressions. Here is a comprehensive list of the reasons for being alive on the net:
1. It’s a faucet for the immense fountain of creativity that gushes within me. My ideas, my stories, my thoughts and my reviews are all here. This is me, and that is the reason I write under my own name, un-anonymously! The blog is a friend with whom I share many things which I would ordinarily be shy of speaking out. Simply put, writing is way beyond just a hobby it s a passion, and I love to indulge in it time and again. I wrote when I didn’t have a blog; I continue to do so. Only difference is that now I have a readership base, who make the entire effort worthwhile (a cliche, I know, but nevertheless true!) Also, I have a strong narcissistic streak in me and this blog, and the comments thereon, satisfies that basic urge.
2. In my ‘about‘ page I said that I am a writer in hibernation, waiting for my time to explode on the publishing scene. Hence, this blog is a scribble pad of sorts that I use to sharpen my skills. Additionally, I could be a failed journalist trying to make the best of what I have; an unhindered and unchecked space to vent myself.
3. It is a wonderful place to meet and socialize, even though it is through cold and insensitive neurons, webspace and codes. Yet, some of the finest, most splendid and extraordinary people I met have been through this blog (and its previous avatar); the blog restored my faith in humanity and human beings. I had joined it at a time when my faith and trust were at their lowest, the blog aided in reinforcing the value of spirit of humankind.
4. There is an element of rudimentary pleasure in succeeding which makes me continue with the blog. I get a kick in checking the traffic statistics or the comments number; it’s a drive that compels me never to abandon the blog for very long.
5. The blog has opened up avenues to new writers, which I wouldn’t have otherwise ever read. There is a massively huge bulk of writers whom I have read, enjoyed and re-read to get the hang of the style, grammar and structure they use. Often, emulation has led me to pen some good stuff, though it can no way compare or challenge those excellent writers! In a way, it also adds to the competitiveness; in order to be a step ahead of the others, I strive to churn out more entertaining posts.

Mahn DJ — I too am glad U blog. I think I once told you that “your opinions soon becomes other people’s opinions”, because of the fascinating & simply amazing way you write and express yourself. Pretty cool - I wish I had that skill - I could perhaps convince the profs to agree on my exam paper
lol - kidding.
When I listen to a (Lata) song, I wonder what comments could truly express the song’s beauty. And then I read your comments on her songs - and I think — “yup, that’s precisely what I (too) think about the song!” You are that good with words.
You remind me of the author Khushwant Singh. Know why? - cause in high school, his stories/novels I liked the best. He wrote in such simple words, and his stories entire depended on content, and not complex words. I think it’s the same with you. I think even Vivekananda wrote like that - simple beautiful writing.
Keep writing “Dimpak”
P.S: 2 more exams to go, and then I am gonna attack U for songs (or info on songs) from the 80s and 90s and this century as well, since I haven’t been keeping up

Manish - Well, I ‘ll wait to see your reasons
Do take it up!
Sani - Hey, thanks so much *sheepish, going red* These words make the entire time and effort spent on RE so much more meaningful. And anytime buddy - whatever info you need.

[…] I have been tagged by Deepak. Whenever there is any Tag, I’m there in the list of most of friends. I say “No-NO” but I have to accept it. It is ranked on 2nd in my “I DON’T like list. But I would be on the top if you survey who has accepted more tag. […]
